1. Nature of Our Service

Search Pets operates a Website that allows pet owners to report lost pets and allows finders to report found pets. We offer a free Standard alert and an optional Premium Pet Alert ($179.99 one-time fee) with enhanced visibility features described on our Pricing page. All information on this Website is for general informational purposes.

2. No Guarantee of Pet Recovery

Search Pets makes no guarantee that any lost pet will be found, recovered, or reunited with its owner — whether you use our free Standard service or paid Premium service. Pet recovery depends on timing, location, community response, weather, pet behavior, and many factors beyond our control. Purchasing a Premium alert does not guarantee results.

3. Not a Substitute for Official Action

Using Search Pets does not replace your responsibility to:

  • Contact local animal shelters, humane societies, and animal control
  • Notify local veterinary clinics and emergency animal hospitals
  • Update your pet's microchip registration with current contact info
  • File reports with local law enforcement where required by ordinance
  • Post physical flyers in your neighborhood
  • Comply with all applicable state and local stray animal laws (view state info)

For emergencies involving injured, aggressive, or dangerous animals, call 911 or your local animal control immediately.

4. Premium Service Disclaimer

The Premium Pet Alert ($179.99) provides enhanced processing and distribution features. Premium status does not guarantee placement on any specific platform, a minimum number of views, or a successful reunion. Refund terms are governed by our Refund Policy. All sales are subject to our Terms of Service.

5. User-Submitted Content

Pet reports, photos, and descriptions are submitted by users. Search Pets does not independently verify every submission. We are not responsible for inaccurate, false, or fraudulent reports. Exercise caution when contacting other users — meet in public places and verify ownership before releasing a pet.

6. State Legal Information

Our state legal pages provide general summaries only and are not legal advice. Laws vary by state, county, and city and change over time. Hold periods and ownership rules listed are approximate. Consult a licensed attorney in your state for specific guidance.

7. Payment & Third Parties

Premium payments are processed by PayPal. Search Pets is not responsible for PayPal service interruptions, payment errors, or PayPal's handling of your financial data. See PayPal's terms and privacy policy for payment-related matters.

8. Photo & Personal Information

By submitting a report, you acknowledge your contact information and pet photos may be published in search listings or shared to facilitate recovery. Search Pets is not liable for misuse of published information by third parties. See our Privacy Policy for data handling details.

9. Service Availability

We aim to keep searchpets.org available 24/7 but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance, hosting issues, or technical failures may cause temporary downtime. Search Pets is not liable for damages caused by service interruptions.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SEARCH PETS AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES ARISING FROM USE OF OUR WEBSITE OR SERVICES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: failed pet recovery, inaccurate user content, third-party actions, payment disputes, or reliance on state legal summaries.
